Speechless Speech BIO:In 2006, Anne Marie Schlekeway left her executive position at an international Training and Development firm due to her diminishing capacity to speak. 3 years later, after 5.5 years of symptoms, she was finally diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gherig's disease. In 2007, Anne Marie founded her own executive coaching company. Her Master Plan program focuses on sustainable excellence through planning, elevated self-care and wellness practices. Since her diagnosis in March of 2009, she created Kiss My ALS, an organization devoted to raising funds for ALS research and awareness of this condition through her blog at www.kissmyals.com, products and events. Kiss My ALS was featured in the Chicago Tribune, on Dec 14th, 2009.
Her book "The Care and Feeding of a High Powered Professional" will be published this fall, and she's currently rolling out a program for people battling a chronic health condition called "The Empowered Patient" and "The Empowered Caregiver" a program designed to diminish burnout and support health care professionals. She'll tell you, "It took losing the power of speech to find my own voice. That is the profound gift of my illness." She presents her “Speechless Speeches” to companies and organizations as a motivation and training tool. A powerpoint presentation delivered in silence with the exception of audience reaction and participation exercises, a speechless speech is a profound and moving experience. Each speech is customized to fulfill the intention of client and 50% of the fees are donated to ALS research.
