All proceeds benefit ALS research efforts

I launched my executive coaching firm well after the onset of symptoms and we now produce programs in Chicago and L.A. So I know a bit about being extraordinary in the face of severe setbacks and challenges. Though I am no longer able to speak, I have developed a presentation style known as the Speechless Speech which gives my words a silent voice and immediate impact. I invite you to join us for an evening that will make a real difference.

I promise it will be more valuable for you than the price of admission!

This event is sponsored by my company Master Plan Programs, and Witt’s Tavern and it benefits the MDA’s Augie’s Quest campaign to cure ALS. 70 years after Lou Gherig developed ALS there is no treatment and no cure. ALS is 90% spontaneous and can happen to anyone. There are 33,000 people at any given time with ALS in the USA. Life expectancy is 3-5 years after diagnosis. So the 6000 new people diagnosed each year basically replace those who have left us. I am committed to end ALS in MY LIFETIME!

This event will be inspiring, informative and rich with ideas to make the most out of life! I look forward to seeing you there!

Please share this post…

The Speechless Speech at InRule

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 by annemarie

This Friday I had the priviledge of presenting a Speechless Speech at a Client conference for InRule Technology,Inc. Paul Hessinger the CEO, had contacted me after the WGN spot aired this summer and set me up as a suprise for his employees and Client guests. The theme of the day was communication, so I dusted off the Speech on Powerful Speaking and Happiness and customized the acknowledgment exercise for his key client services staff. Early in the morning…as luck would have it- a rainy morning and even though I left myself plenty of time …the lack of cab service made me late…I HATE being late, in fact I make a big point of it in my speech ~ about how your credibility is damaged when you are late… Yeah well I was set back on my heels a bit by being late- not late for the speech mind you- just late as to when I had promised to be there 90 mins before. Blech.

However I felt on the inside it apparently had no impact on the presentation, as the feedback was great and again I am certain this format of a Speechless Speech touches something profound in people. They remember what I “said” their reaction is more than it would be if I clearly spoke the same words as I stood before them. I think it has something to do with ” well if she’s not complaining about THAT, then why am I complaining about THIS…” type of comparison. Whatever the hook is I’ll take it! Here’s some of the feedback:

I have to say I was moved by your message, you definitely got my attention. Thank you so much for sharing. I’m going to embrace your tips on not only communication, but on my goals and in what I want to help me further. The only problem for me is that I’m stubborn in my ways so I’ll have to review your advice repeatedly to ingrain it my spontaneous conduct.

Finally, I overheard from some clients that they were similarly affected by your presentation like I was. I’m sure that Friday’s meeting will change the habits and patterns of quite a few people. Thank you again for being a part of our meeting.
Sincerely,
Jeff Enzinger

Afterglow still abounds from your contribution -SO many people were touched, beyond words.

Anne Marie,-I very much appreciated your presentation today at InRule’s meeting. Congratulations; you have certainly found your voice. I was transfixed by your words. I wish you all the best. Know that you have touched my life and I am better for it. Thank you. Best regards

FAQ’s

Monday, July 12th, 2010 by annemarie

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why did you create the Master Plan and what is unique about it?

Ok here’s the thing about the Master Plan, I created it because I knew there was a way for people to be uber productive and purposful with out sacrificing their health to do it. I am out to tranform the way people are managed and how they manage themselves. You don’t need to be “under the gun” or operating in a state of emergency to get things done, in fact that ethos is counter productive over time. I believe the atmosphere of forced emergency wears people down and makes them sick. The Master Plan trains people to take care of themselves and to set up their enviroment in such a way that they are naturally more productive, creative and fulfilled. The main tenet of the Master Plan is that self care is an access to and required for sustainable high productivity. The Master Plan is about operating in the FLOW of work not in a PRESS.

What are your thoughts on Death and Dying?

As I say in some of my Speechless Speeches, here’s the gift of ALS ~ I have a yellow light on my road on life. Some people die in an instant with a Crash, Boom or Pow. There’s no warning its a shock and here’s no chance to communicate. Some people hang on and see a century or more…The thing about a diagnosis with no cure is you immediately stop doing what you don’t want to be doing and IF you are lucky you have a purpose to fulfill on with the remainder of your time ( so you don’t waste the time you have worrying about dying). I recommend people pretend like they have a yellow light for a moment and look at what they would change ie: what would you do now if you knew you only had 5 yrs, that you are not doing now?

What’s the biggest challenge of living with ALS?

The biggest challenge with ALS is the continual adjustments you have to make to new physical weaknesses and the corresponding grief you feel with each loss, you get caught up in the cycle of grief sometimes and this is why maintaining an empowered mindset is the #1 challenge of ALS and other NMD’s. To transend this grief which could prematurely bury you…that is the triumph of people like me, to have kept your spirits up over time and even to dare look to heal onself in the absence of any evidence that it can be done. This is what it looks like to be undaunted, unbreakable. This is possible. I am out to optimize my health in the face of ALS, I focus on that. I believe this attitude will either heal me or at least keep me alive for a cure.

Are you ever annoyed with people who seem to be completely distraught about trivial concerns?

Yes.

What would you say to them?

The evolved answer is to know that everyone is given what they can handle and in that case and from that space I could comfort and support them.
The knee jerk reaction (and perhaps more appropriate) is to say, “Get a bigger problem!”

How did you come up with the Speechless Speech?

Last February, I held a fundraiser for ALS research because I felt the need to DO SOMETHING! I had over 150 guests and we raised $32,000. I needed a way to address my guests at the event and a friend of mine, Anna Belyeav suggested using a power point and assisted me in creating the presentation. The effect of a silent “speech” was profound and moving. We made it light hearted and funny and it still brought people to tears. That was when we knew we had created something special. A few months later I was asked to “speak” at an event by the Story From a New Friend organization. That “Speechless Speech” is available to be viewed on this sight. Feedback from the event was overwhelming and I knew we had something that was unique and could make a difference. I knew I wouldn’t be doing another fundraising event on my own as it took way too much energy from me, but the I saw the possibility of reaching people through the “Speechless Speech” and using it as a fundraising tool for ALS research.

Ridiculous outstanding reviews of the Speechless Speech!

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 by annemarie

Here is a shameless bit of self promotion!
I asked a few people to review their experience with the Speechless Speech~ It’s my intention to use this type of presentation to pay for a really cool wheelchair for me and raise money for ALS research. I will split the fees 50/50 from companies and organizations as well as support fundraising efforts for MDA’s Augies Quest and ALS TDI.

Joshua Haas:
Certainly. Anne Marie, I’ve noticed a couple of things after being around you a few times. One is that ALS has made you a highly intuitive person. Related to this, everyone that has crossed your path describes being at the “Speechless Speech” with a common phrase, “Anne Marie said…” To me this is more amazing than a room full of people in tears followed by uncontrollable laughter (an emotional roller coaster). You don’t speak! Yet, all in attendance leave describing the events as if they had a one-on-one in depth conversation with you for hours. You have created an experience with an unequaled impact. The focus, attentiveness, and interaction of the audience blows me away each time; truly effective.
The next amazing aspect is the duration for which your lessons stay with your new friends (I had to drop Story From a New Friend in here). I know people who were attend your our first event with you upstairs at Rockit. They are still talking about changes they want to make in their life inspired by you and the “Speechless Speech.” For this demographic that usually writes off an experience the moment it is over, I am continually taken aback. You and your cause forever have my support in anyway necessary.

Kevin Conroy Smith:
(Kevin is a professional speaker himself!)
I started Story From a New Friend in 2005. During the last 5 years we have heard hundreds of stories but nothing has compared to Anne Marie’s speechless speech. The power she had went deeper than even our organization imaged could happen from a story or personal experience. It has been over a month since her speech and I still use several of her key points in my day to day life. Few times in your life you come across a person or experience that forever changes the way you live your life, this speech was one of those experiences and Anne Marie is one of those people. Single handily the most powerful speech I have attended.

“It has been over a month since her speech and I still use several of her key points in my day to day life”
“Few times in your life you come across a person or experience that forever changes the way you live your life, this speech is one of those experience and Anne Maria is one of those people”
“Will forever change the way I live my life”
“I will always help carry the Anne Marie speechless speech torch, that is how powerful this is”

Mike Brown says:

Anne Marie’s ‘Speechless Speeches’ are proof that actions truly do speak louder than words. Anne Marie has carefully crafted a powerful message that speaks louder than any voice that could have delivered it. I feel privileged having been in her presence.

How cool is that!?!
